Contesting

The band performed very creditably given reduced piping numbers in Dunedin this year, taking out 2nd place overall. The drum corp did exceeding well to win every prize bar the flourishing, and this only by the narrowest of margins. This helped the band take out the Medley event.

Band News

The band has just had their Annual Prize-giving dinner. The prizes were awarded as follows.

Most Improved Player                        Isaac Turner

This was Isaac's first season with the band and so he has does done outstandingly well to learn all the music and play it all to a grade 1 standard within a year.

Most Outstanding Player                    Andrea Purvis

Andrea has been a rock in the bass section this year and has laboured hard to bring up some of the newer members of the bass section.

Bandsman of the Year                        Warwick Gordon

In a year where a lot of the side corp was residing outside of Auckland, Warwick has sometimes been the only side drummer to attend practises and parades with the rest of the band. His work and dedication has been most appreciated.

The band is now gearing up for Anzac day and the "Scotland the Brave" concert which is being held in the ASB Theatre of the Aotea Centre in Auckland on the 28th April

 

Centre News

The Centre has been successful in their endeavour to hold the National Contest in 2008. The bid was supported by and will be held in the City of Papakura.
